Island escape in the Philippines
I always enjoy traveling back to my home country, not only to visit relatives but to enjoy the Island life and explore places I haven't seen before. I went home to the Philippines to attend my cousin's grand wedding. It was such an amazing event to experience with the family. First couple of nights the family stayed at a F1 hotel located Bonifacio Global city in Manila. The stay was comfortable and food was amazing! For the rest of my stay during the wedding, I was able to experience a 5-star luxury hotel in both Shangrila at the Fort in Manila and Shangrila Hotel and Resort in Boracay, where my cousin held Part I and Part II of her wedding. Yes, she had two weddings, how lucky right?
I had a great time in both weddings, but my favorite part was the Boracay escape. My experience with both hotels were beyond my expectation! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My favorite part of my stay in both hotels is the daily buffet breakfast. They had so much good food choices and the food quality was excellent.
Shangrila at the fort in Manila is located in a convenient area with stores within walking distance, so it was easy to go out to grab something to eat or go shop around. I discovered their balcony swimming area on the last day of my stay. They had a spacious area to hang out, with many seats to fill and their pool was an infinity pool, pretty awesome! Best part was it was only under 5 ft. deep which is always an A+ for me hehe (short people problems). I didn't get a chance to swim because of time, but I still got a chance to wet my feet and take some lovely photos. Big thanks to my cousin who didnt mind being my photographer for the mean time since hubby was not able to come along.
The following day was the Part II of the wedding which took place in Shangrila Boracay. It took about an hour to fly into Caticlan (another island in the Philippines) since there is no direct flight into Boracay. From there we had to take a bus that took us to a waiting area where we had to get on the speedboat to finally get us to Boracay, about 10-20 minutes. Upon arrival, we were embraced with a live native performance which I really appreciate since I don't see that quite often.
Boracay is compromised of 3 stations. The 3rd station is the side closest to Caticlan. Less crowded area and cheaper resorts. Station 2 is the busiest of them all. This is where you will find shopping stores, restaurants, and also the area for night life. You could also find many affordable resorts here. Finally, Station 1 is where you can find the longest and finest stretch of white sand and alot more privacy. This is where most luxury resorts are located. This area is so exclusive that you have to pass two guarded checkpoints going into and out of this station. I actually got to go outside station 1 and visit station 2. I got to taste some good tasting seafood, got my nails done at the beach as well as a massage. I was definitely living the life at that moment, hehe.
There were countless of activities to do in Shangrila alone. They had a tennis court, in house spa & hair salon, medical center, game room, water sports pavilion, swim shop, indoor recreation area, karaoke rooms, and just many more! Sadly, I didn't get to do much outdoor activities due to the weather. It rained a few times and cloudy most of the time but it was still hot, it didn't bother me at all, I was still chillin' out there hehe. Although I was wishing for the sun to come out more for photo purposes, I still managed to get a few decent photos. My room was so comfortable and spacious. When you go outside the balcony of the room, you walk into this nice garden over looking the beach. They also gave complimentary water & fruits (yum!)
I must say I feel so fortunate to travel to one of the worlds best Islands, which happens to be in my home country. It is true about what people say how the view is breath taking. I will defintely miss chillin at the beach with my fresh coconut drink and pina colada.
The most important part of this trip and all of my many more trips to come was the experience and spent quality time with the family. I can finally check this off my list and plan for the next one, next year, this time in Palawan ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
Please feel free to ask me anything else about my trip or if you happen to go out there for vacation, I might be able to give you some advice and suggestions! 😉
